How to plan an awesome Halloween party

Make your Halloween party unique with great themed decorationsPlanning makes perfect, and with October 31st just around the corner, it's time you started planning your amazing Halloween party. Organising and running a Halloween party is not as easy as it sounds - there's a lot to think about, from costumes, drinks and food to scary decorations and entertainment. Read on to find out how best to plan your party, so when it comes to the big night the pumpkins will be carved, the costumes will be terrifying and your house will look more like a morgue than a home.

ONE MONTH BEFORE

  • You want to give everyone plenty of time to sort out travel and costume arrangements, so get those invitations out early. Pick a date, start time and end time, taking into account that people may have work commitments.
  • Make sure you invite enough people, because inevitably some will have to cancel.
  • Order the Halloween costumes that you need for yourself and your family (if you're stuck for a costume, our Halloween costume ideas may help you out).
  • Choose a theme for your party in terms of decorations and accessories. It's best to keep the costume theme broad to encourage more people to attend.
  • Order your party supplies (we stock a full range of Halloween party decorations for all themes)
  • Plan your food and drinks menu.
  • Decide on what you'd like entertainment wise - maybe you want a live band. If so, start asking around. If not, hook up a good hi-fi system to play some cool scary music.

ONE WEEK BEFORE

  • Let your neighbours know you'll be having a Halloween party. They probably won't mind a little extra noise, but it's only polite, particularly if they have young children.
  • Check you've ordered and received everything you need. If not you can still pick up last minute party supplies, as we offer same day despatch on all our items.
  • Buy your food and drink - make what food you can and freeze it.
  • Ensure there will be ample parking room at your party - consider asking a neighbour if you can use their space. If guests are arriving by train, offer to pick them up or ask a friend to help you out.

TWO DAYS BEFORE

  • Start decorating your house. Things may go wrong, so by starting two days before hand you give yourself time to solve problems.
  • Check your camera and/or camcorder is charged and has film.
  • Buy your pumpkins and carve them.

ONE DAY BEFORE

  • Prepare food and drink for the party, i.e. punches and snacks. You don't want to be rushing around on Halloween night sorting out these things when you could be having fun. Defrost the food you previously prepared.
  • Recheck all decorations and hangings. By doing this early you don't stress yourself out in the hours leading up to the party.

THE PARTY

  • Ensure everyone knows where the toilets are and where they can get food and drink.
  • Make sure you take photos to commemorate the occasion.
  • Have a GREAT time!

Follow these guidelines and you'll enjoy a fantastic fun-filled Halloween party. If you'd like more advice, don't hesitate to give us a call on 01268 574170. We also run a dedicated party planning service that gives you a 10% discount on all costumes and a free costume for the party organiser!
